A lot to debate on the subject of network APIs indeed!
Most interesting trend to me will be how network APIs and on device APIs are bound to converge and standardize in the coming years. As On device APIs turn to web APIs they should become similar to network APIs at which stage the device actually has to make decisions as to whether to call on device or network APIs based on speed of response, energy consumption and device capabilities.
This model however is not too compatible with &quot;pay per use&quot; network APIs. 
Having said that this is now a standard innovator debate, and we can either live with it ... or ??</description>
